I've been watching the BJ & Handy Drama for a couple of days now, and while I understand some of you are saddened by the thought of their possible demise....I'm not. and as I've said before, you all know why that is.
One of the things that's been bothering me for these past few days, is the fact that the dj's now find the message board to be something worthy of their time.
They used to visit every once in a while....usually to make a tacky comment against a poster, or to defend themselves for some flame comment about them....just before deleting the thread. Now, they are posting several times a day. When we used to post there...we were called LAME, LOSERS, STALKERS, NERDS...etc. Um.....okay...so what does that make them, now?
Also, as to the Happy Hour plans. Baloo, Lady and the rest of the gang, tried several times to get BJ & Handy to attend a happy hour at D&B, and they just couldnt be bothered to attend. Now that they need the help of the listeners, they're all for a get together. helping make plans for it, even. I'm sorry.....but it just seems a tad hypocritical to me. Or just a case of "too little-too late".
I admit I am guilty of a negative bias against the show....but take it from one who found out the hard way.....THERE IS LIFE AFTER BJ & HANDY. They arent the only radio show in Austin....and according to the ARBITRON ratings....they arent the BEST radio show in Austin either. (and havent been in 3 ratings periods, which is 9 months) Hell...they arent even #2, or #3.
THe BEST OF AUSTIN newspaper poll doesnt count with the advertisers. Advertisers only pay attention to the ARBITRON ratings, and in that poll......Mix aint cuttin the mustard.
Here is the Arbitron ratings chart for Austin Texas.

check out how far they have falled from their ratings in 2002, until now. The SUITS cant ignore that.
I didnt think I could do without their show in the mornings...but I can, and I have--for nearly a year.
I'm sure something will happen, that allows them to get back on the air. Que sera -- sera.
