I am starting this thread here because it falls under family and religion more than it does under politics. I am sitting here watching the news as the footage of Saddam's capture keeps rotating. And as I watch him being examined, they are talking about how every once in a while he says things that make it seem like he is trying to "justify" his actions in the last 25 years. This conjures up a question within the depths of my soul (cheesy enough?)..... Ok, here it is.... They say that if you are a good SANE person at heart, you know the difference between right and wrong. What do you think about what is going on in Saddam's head. And I mean DEEP in his heart and head. Do you think he has that kind of reasoning in him? Do you believe that deep down.... though he will never outright admit it.... he KNOWS that all of his crimes, the deaths, the rapes, the tortures...etc etc... were wrong no matter how intently he will verbally defend them? Or do you think that he is evil enough to actually believe that his "ends" justify his "means"? Seriously. I wonder if he actually thinks that all of his evil deeds were necessary.

I think he's just flat out crazy. I am so glad he is found. My opinion....
Put him through torture then lock him in a cell until he croaks so he can sit there in prison rotting til it's over.

I think he's crazy too. The man cant have a conscience at all, nor any moral fiber. He even ordered the murders of his 2 son in laws. What kind of sane man, orders the deaths of his own family? It's like a twisted version of the Sopranos. Does he really believe that the end justifies the means? Pardon my rambling, it could be the mixture of Theraflu and SoCo talking.

I also think the man is crazy, but their whole lifestyle over there is something that none of us will ever understand. His 2 son-in-laws were killed because they were giving information out on the family, not that that justifies it in anyway, just saying. It is going to take them a long time to get "civilized" over there, think about how long they have lived with these crazy ass rules and standards. Prostitutes over there are beheaded if found guilty, thieves are beaten to death or sometimes have limbs cut off. I am rambling... I forgot where I was going...

Funny Tina I hear you though. Those people that think "OK we got him, now get the hell out" are STUPID. We gotta finish what we started, whether it be right or not.... That is like starting a puzzle with no intention of finishing it. Ok guys, you are liberated.... now it is up to you to figure out the rest.... BYE!!!! It aint that easy....

How was your question not answered? The man is CRAZY and does not know right from wrong......Did I miss something on this thread? Can you help me out with the original question?

It is too hard of a question to really clarify. Maybe I just dont understand the fact that when you are NUTSO you just DONT. Period.
I just got curious since he was actually justifying his actions. That tells me one of two things....
He either KNOWS that what he has done in the past is wrong and doesnt want others to conclude the same....
or
He is just trying to get out of execution
Does that make sense?
Either way, it tells me that deep down, he knows right from wrong.... thus making him sane.
Scary thought....

I honestly don't think the Man cares if he lives or dies. It was pretty clear from what we have heard so far that he cares not about the thousands of deaths he has attributed to.
I think that he would rather be executed for his "cause" than to live incarcerated.

I think that he would rather be executed for his "cause" than to live incarcerated. If that were the case, do you actually think he would have allowed himself to be captured without a fight? He had a pistol with him. If he would rather be executed for his "cause" dont you think he would have put up a fight? Dont you think that he would not have been so willing to accept medical treatment? He is a coward. He would rather be in prison than die for his cause.... My opinion of course..
