Ok.... Paul and I are sitting here having a conversation about the way that all religions tend to impose their own beliefs on everyone. I brought up this thread and read it to him, and he would like to chime in with his two cents.....
so without any further adieu..... I BRING YOU....... PAAAAAAAAAAAUL..... (with me typing for him)
"Ok, here is my .02.... I was raised Catholic. Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all the other perceived faiths of the world have it wrong. Do we not realize that the true reality of God and/or The Creator are a combination of all the world's beliefs? My opinion is that no one "faith" is right or wrong. If you believe in God, you treat people well. If you believe in God, you feel guilt. If you believe in God, you introspect. God does not belong to any one religion or train of thought. God is not a trademark. Are we the only beings in the universe? That is what earthly ideologies seem to profess. Within the parameters of what you have been taught...what do YOU believe? Get it?"

So far, the best church I've been to is the Mormon church. They are the only ones that have the same beliefs I do, like that theres another chance after death to cleanse yourself and everything. I've been to non-denominational churches, Methodist churches, one Baptist church, and I was an Episcopalian for a long long time. The Mormon church is the best one in my opinion though. And I definitely wouldn't recommend non-denominational churches. I've been to three and they all pretty much said that you were going to Hell if you didn't do this and this and this. But, the Mormon church doesn't judge anyone. Also, the last non-denominational church I went to put down the Episcoplian church for having a gay bishop. They said that Episcopalians weren't even saved and that church wouldn't mix with "those kind of people." The Mormon church also explains stuff in the bible a lot better than other churches and they don't ask you for money all the time. If you want to give money, give it. They don't pass around the offering plate. They have envelopes outside of the preaching room that you put money into and the preachers and bishops and everone else that works in the church don't get paid for what they do. They have their own jobs on the side. And they say that you only go to Hell if you choose to and you only make that choice after you die, not before. You get one last chance after death, which is what I've always believed, because I've never seen God as someone who could put so many people in Hell. The way I see it is, could you put someone in Hell to stay there for eternity? I couldn't. So how could God, who is a million more times loving than any human being ever could be?

So if you supposedly make "the choice" after you die and not before.... does that mean that you can live your life like Hitler or Saddam here in the meantime, and it will all be ok as long as you make the right "choice" when you die? That sounds like a cowardly cop out to me. Think about it. You see? (BTW that was my OWN 2 cents. Paulie is asleep.

I had a friend growing up that was a Mormon and her Dad gave a percentage of his yearly income to the church. I thought that was common for members.
