My 15 yr old son was sitting on a bench at his high school after football practice this morning, tying his shoe, when a car drove by and threw a firecracker (not sure what kind) at him. It did not hit him, but when it exploded near by, an amber landed in the palm of his hand and burned him (& temporarily deafening him). He did not know the boys in the vehicle but was able to get the lic. plate number. My first reaction was to call PPD to file a complaint but a co-worker is telling me that would be silly. She says "They were just having fun and no real harm was done". So my question is, am I being silly? Shouldn't someone talk to these boys & let them know this is NOT something you do for fun. And above all else, inform their parents of their behavior? Just curious what anyone else would do if it were their child

Just a follow up...I did call PPD who informed me that we could press assault charges and take them to court. We resolved to ask the officer to talk to them and their parents and give them a warning. The officer is to let us know once he has talked to them.
